Nancy's Café and Bakery

Until now, Brookline Village caffeine cravers have had little to celebrate. But things are perking up considerably with the arrival of Nancy's Café and Bakery.

Coffee choices include espresso ($1.50 single; $2 double); cappuccino and latte ($2.25 small; $2.75 large); mochaccino ($2.75 small; $3.50 large); and flavor shots for 35 cents. Their standard coffees come from environmentally responsible Green Mountain Coffee Roasters of Vermont. Sweet treats are well represented, with a selection of cakes (about $2 per slice), muffins and cookies (90 cents each), and mini-loaf breads (about $2 each). Sandwiches (from $3 to $4.50) come on bagels or rolls, loaded with cheese and veggies.

Nancy's staff is friendly, upbeat, and helpful. They even file your stamped "coffee card" (every seventh cup is free) on the premises so it will be there whenever you are.

Nancy's Café and Bakery, located at 220 Washington Street, in Brookline Village, is open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekends. Call 739-0008.
