Richie Rich

Beat happy

Richie Rich spins at Chaps on Mondays and Fridays, and at the Paradise in Cambridge on Saturdays. He's been a DJ in Boston since 1991, and before that he did a late-night radio gig at Boston College's radio station, WZBC 90.3, where he played full-tilt house music. Today, as a club spinner, Richie likes to feature "new stuff, happy house and hard house -- and some older songs, too, but basically just house." His style, he says, is to "move real quick; I don't stay with a song more than three or four minutes, so it doesn't go cold. I do go-for-it mixes, especially a cappellas over beats." Last summer Richie took his DJ skills to Germany, but for now he's committed to Boston. The wanna-bes will be happy to know that Richie buys his discs at Biscuithead, at 93 Mass Ave, and at Vinyl Connection, at 23 Huntington Avenue
