Cutie pie

Original Apple Pie

by Stephen Heuser

NOSHING & SIPPING
There are pies, there are small pies, and then there is Gordon's Original Apple Pie. Everything about this dessert looks normal -- pleasant golden crust with slits in the top, aluminum pie tin -- except that the whole thing is four inches across at its absolute widest. And it costs 99 cents. For all the wacky sloganeering on the box ("Good-Good!(TM)" "Eat Mo' Piereg."), Gordon never quite bothers to include heating directions, so we guessed. After sitting in a 350-degree oven for about 20 minutes, or maybe it was 25, the pie was hot enough for us. It had a sweet apple-cinnamon taste; the crust was a little softer than we'd like, but hey -- a whole pie for 99 cents? Sign us up! Available at Star Market.
