A Photo Isn't a Photo 'Til It's a Photo! By Alan Samiljan
Here's one for you. A young mother I know told me how her five year old
asked her, "Mommy, why aren't there any pictures of me when I was a baby?"
The only thing the mother could answer was, "That was the year Daddy bought
the digital camera!" WOW, all that family history gone forever. For most
of us, photography is about memories. Whether you travel or photograph
birthday parties and holidays, we do it to have a record, to remember. The
ability to email photos and view them on your computer is amazing, but it is
not particularly warm and fuzzy. Prints in a photo album, now that's
comfort food, but how do I get those prints from my digital camera? There is
no negative, after all. Many people assume they will print at home, and
while the technology is always improving, it is still very time consuming
and about twice the cost per 4x6 print than having it done by your local
retailer.
As one of those retailers, PhotoGraphics offers instant on-site digital
printing, or a less expensive "later-the-same day" option. We can even
accept orders for prints, enlargements or greeting cards on our web site,
www.photographics.com, and our customers pick them up the following day at
one of our stores. The quality is also better than what you can do at home.
You will also want to archive your files (pictures) on a CD or DVD. You may
not want to print everything now, or you may want to get another print
later. Remember, storing your pictures on your hard drive is risky. Hard
drives crash, and when they do you will probably lose everything on it,
including your "memories."
Make prints and share them with family and friends. They will thank you for
it. Remember, "A PHOTO ISN'T A PHOTO UNTIL IT'S A PHOTO!"
