Best voice you've never heard

There's no shame in admitting you have no idea who singer-songwriter Deb Talan is. But that doesn't mean you should go on living in oblivion. With her indescribably original and eminently listenable vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and charming stage presence, Talan's a performer worth seeking out. Her songs have already been discovered by Hollywood -- they've been featured on teen favorites Dawson's Creek and Felicity, and in the brilliant film Lovely and Amazing -- yet Boston remains relatively indifferent to Talan's talent, despite the fact that her home base in Western Massachusetts is practically in our own back yard. The bubbly chanteuse is currently on a West Coast tour with boyfriend and fellow singer-songwriter Steve Tannen, but local concert dates are certain to follow, so stay tuned.
