A new Gardner, plus landscapes, performance art, and RAD

Shapeshifting
By GREG COOK  |  December 30, 2011

ISABELLA STEWART GARDNER MUSEUM | January 19 | When the museum opens its new addition, will architect Renzo Piano's modern addition complement Gardner's 99-year-old Renaissance Venetian-style palace? Or will the original brick building and the new glass and copper box clash? Either way the new amenities — café, performance hall, gallery — should be a plus. And through May 28, the addition hosts photographs of the historic building and collection by Luisa Lambri, an outdoor drawing of a tree-of-heaven by Stefano Arienti, and, in the new gallery, sculpture and abstract paintings by Victoria Morton.
