But what about the uncertainty of YouTube-launched fame? It's a factor the levelheaded and tenacious pair have already taken into consideration? "We see YouTube as a great, free platform to get our music to millions of people," Noonan writes. "We never really considered ourselves 'YouTube artists,' but just artists who are on YouTube, if that makes sense. I think covering such a variety of songs, trying to cover them very creatively, and also upload some originals at the same time will definitely help people perceive us as more 'legit.' "
Backed by a substantial collection of original material (Seacrest aired "Take It Away" four weeks ago, and this week you can watch them playing the tune in that NBA Finals spot) it seems Karmin have enough ammunition to power past their 15 minutes of fame. The comparison between their original EP, last year's Inside Out, and their current repertoire, is baffling. "This whole process has been so crazy serendipitous," Noonan writes. "Hip-hop has really been our main inspiration from the beginning," he says of the jump from sunny, pop-influenced easy listening to fiercer beats. "Plus, Amy's flow is ridiculous. Straight up."

There's a sense of calculated jubilation in Pretty & Nice's frantic brand of caffeinated pop, one that's a bit paranoid, a bit euphoric, and always on the verge of spinning out of control.

Unless your name is Tiny Tim or you perform with Michael J. Epstein, you shouldn't be putting out an entire album of ukulele songs; something just feels weird about it.
