"A lot of people piss and moan when they see bands in bigger venues because they used to see them in smaller ones, but generally, no venue sounds good. There are only like three or four venues that I can think of that sound great. I get so sick of hearing people say, 'Oh that venue's terrible, it sounds terrible in there.' It's like, 'Yeah, we know, every venue sounds terrible — get over it.' "
Then why not go huge? Onwards and upwards, Auerbach preaches. "Big arenas are cool," he says. "It's like when you walk in to see a basketball game or you walk into a ballpark to see a baseball game. When you walk into that opening and you see all those people and the field, or the stage or the court . . . it's just larger than life and it heightens everything. I think it's really exciting." ^
