On FRIDAY (the 18th), PVD's VERSE is back on the attack (new album out soon!) playing AS220 with ACHILLES, LIKE WOLVES, and RAINDANCE ($8, 401.831.9327), while THE DENVER BOOT and THE MIGHTY GOOD BOYS open for THE EVIL STREAKS at Firehouse 13 (401.270.1801). On SATURDAY (the 19th), Fête's stellar soundsystem will thump with FISHBONE and special guest locals THE BRUNT OF IT and THE AGENTS ($20 day of show, 401.383.1112). Free show of the weekend takes place at Billy Goode's in Newport on Saturday, with 75or Less Records rock reps SIX STAR GENERAL ("Curved Nerves" is a BMP '12 Song of the Year nom) and DEADLANDS teaming with NORTHERN LANDS (their cover of Springsteen's "I'm On Fire" is killer); call 401.848.5013. Ahead to TUESDAY (the 22nd), talk about can't-miss polar opposites — the General Assembly concert series rolls on with 98.1 Cat Country favorite KILEY EVANS (produced by Mike Poorman of the Tower & the Fool) and MICHELLE LEWIS at Fête, while NASUM, BRUTAL TRUTH, and local crust punk legends DROPDEAD decimate AS220. And speaking of loud, Belgium death metal veterans ABORTED visit PVD Social Club with PVD's GUT BUCKET, GRAVESIDE SERVICE, and STRYK NINE (doors at 6 pm; 401.454.7177). On THURSDAY (the 24th), stop by the News Café (a cool little spot in Le Bucket, 401.728.6475) for indie locals SOMA NOVA opening up for GHOSTWRITER (Portland, OR).
