On THURSDAY (the 19th) join Chris Monti (the Killdevils) and fiddler Ginger Leigh for a freebie at Nick-a-Nee’s (21+, 401.861.7290). We’re leading into the final weekend for Christmas shopping, so take your mind off the impending madness and take in a show or two! On FRIDAY (the 20th), Gertrude Atherton and Invisible Hours lead an “early Festivus” party at AS220, with openers Karma Rocket and The Really Heavy (9 pm, $6, as220.org). Holiday parties abound with jam-band vets Fungus Amungus, plus Johnny Lingo and Great Big Circles at the Met on Friday (all ages, $12), and head back there SATURDAY (the 21st) for a loud one featuring I Am the Avalanche with guests Raindance, Hostage Calm, and Foreign Tongues. Dial the Met at 401.729.1005 for info on both shows. Also on Saturday, the Swerving Cadillacs kick up some country-rock dust at the Ocean Mist (401.782.3740); The Harleys and Cactus Attack hit Nick-a-Nee’s, and the Parlour (401.383.5858) will host Viking Jesus and Von Donovan. A busy weekend for The McGunks starts Friday at the Pour Farm in New Bedford (508.990.1123); they play closer to home at the Broad Street Tap in Cumberland (401.725.8594) on Saturday; The O’Tooles will open both shows. On SUNDAY (the 22nd), the Tim Taylor Blues Band is at the Narragansett Cafe (401.423.2150) starting around 4 pm with no cover. Y’all enjoy a very merry Christmas on WEDNESDAY (the 25th), then shake off that plate of Xmas goose next THURSDAY (the 26th) at the Parlour courtesy of the Gentlemen Sound System, Ricky Rocksteady, and Mikey Millionaire.
