And finally: the latest fundraiser to save the roller rink is tonight and, yes, yours truly is DJing. Chez Vous in Dorchester is Boston’s only remaining rink, and it’s looking to tread enough water to stay around for another half-century or so. The crowd is fun and diverse — local schoolkids, roller-derby chicks, and bescarfed hipsters all share the floor — and the DJs are always led by Boston’s #1 internationally known disco king, JOSEPH COLBOURNE. This time backed by me, BALTIMORODER, and Campaign for Real Time/Compound 440r whiz MICL PTVN. Dunno what those guys are bringing, but I’m all about the Fatback Band, Chic, and Gwen McRae. I should also mention that the Phoenix is a media partner, but, goddam it, do it for the kids!
