Kong Luh
Kong Luh is a Chinese restaurant that stands out -- no small feat,
considering the throng of mid-priced Chinese places plying us with Cantonese,
Szechuan, and Mandarin dishes. Kong Luh, however, specializes in the Mongolian
cooking of Northern China.
Its decor may be restrained, but the food is not. Kong Luh's vast menu
offers Mongolian specialties such as boor-boor ($4.45 for six), a crisp and
flavorful version of the typically greasy Peking dumplings on every Chinese
menu in town. The unusual combination of celery pork noodles ($5.25) plays
crisp celery against tender pieces of pork in a mildly spicy sauce. Cuan lamb
soup, a traditional Mongolian lamb-noodle soup, is the most expensive item in
the noodle category at $7.50.
Kong Luh, located at 9 Medford Street, in Arlington, is open from 11:30
a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until 11 p.m. on Friday and
Saturday, and from noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Call 643-2456.
