Bloomin' terrific
Edible flowers from California
For the past few years, the food cognoscenti have been
telling us about a new dining trend called "grazing." Is this what they mean?
Quail Mountain Herbs, in California, produces edible roses, pansies, geraniums,
lavender, and marigolds -- 23 varieties of flowers in all. Bread & Circus
recommends eating them right out of the box, maybe with a little dip, but the
petals also make for an unforgettable accent on salad. All are grown
organically, with no pesticides and no herbicides. Each box is about the size
of a sardine tin and costs $2.49. Available at Bread & Circus (locations in
Cambridge, Brighton, and the Fenway).
