The Bean House Café

Looking for a different sort of atmosphere for lunch? Brothers Robert and Jason Walsh have set up their café inside a working greenhouse at Minihane's Florals, in Brighton. Surrounded by the pungent scents and speckled brilliance of a hundred flowering plants, a lunch hour here could easily turn into a mini vacation. Try the generously sized chicken-salad sandwich ($3.79), served on fresh pita bread. Or the nonfat frozen drinks, like the "Double French Kiss," which is French vanilla iced coffee blended with double-Dutch chocolate nonfat Columbo yogurt. Mmm.

The café also serves up a great selection of gourmet coffees. The root of their dedication to java is clear from a plaque the brothers received as a gift from their mom: GIVE ME COFFEE, AND NO ONE GETS HURT.

The Bean House Café, located at 425 Washington Street, in Brighton, is open Fri. through Sat. from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sun. from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free parking.
