Joe's Pizza and Cappuccino Bar

Pizza aficionados take note: Joe's gourmet pizza really delivers. Unlike those cardboard cheese triangles other places serve, Joe's pizza is so hefty you'll need to eat it with a fork and knife. Ten minutes after ordering, my liberally topped tomato and mushroom pizza arrived in steeping in its own juices. A large ($7.50) will satisfy two appetites, an extra-large ($11), three and beyond. If you don't feel like pizza, you can choose from eight omelet subs or order one of the usual Italian subs (all $3.50 to $4), or dig into a spaghetti platter ($5 to $8.50). The display case up front allow customer to check out the fresh antipasti and other Italian-style salads ($4 to $6). The tomato, basil, and mozzarella salad was generous with the basil and olive oil. Round out your meal with an espresso ($1.25) or cappuccino ($2), or try some homemade tiramisú ($2.50).

Joe's Pizza and Cappuccino Bar, at 688 Broadway Avenue in Ball Square, Somerville, is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Call (617) 628-2322.
