ASK ME TOMORROW

Imagine a soft, breathy voice (think Mazzy Star) in bizarre but lovely juxtaposition with a slide guitar and a trace of country twang. Mojave 3's Ask Me Tomorrow is intricate as well as soothing. The blended voices of Rachel Goswell and Neil Halstead, who previously collaborated in the band Slowdive, create lightly twisted harmonies that contribute to Mojave 3's singular sound. Roughly reminiscent of Cowboy Junkies, this music is really in a class of its own. "Pictures" is a simple, almost folky melody with a slightly mournful tone. "Love Songs on the Radio" is immersed in silvery sweet vocals. A satisfying debut.
