RAINBOW FLAG RAISING

City Hall Plaza
Held by the City of Boston
City Hall Plaza is teeming with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people, as well as tourists, financial district businessmen, and Boston's politicos. The national, state, and rainbow flags are proudly unfurled over City Hall Plaza, where they will fly throughout the week. This commitment by the city and the mayor is a true testament to one of Boston's most vibrant communities!

THE 2ND ANNUAL PRIDELIGHTS TREE ILLUMINATION AND GALA CONCERT

Tues., June 4, 7:30 p.m.
Boston Center for the Arts plaza, at Tremont and Clarendon Streets, Boston
Imagine the South End swathed in pink PrideLights and the tree in front of the BCA a vision in pink, heralding the week of Pride! Illuminate your pride and show your presence during Pride week, June 1 to June 9, by decorating your homes and businesses in pink PrideLights(TM)! Look for PrideLights at fine stores throughout Boston.

PrideLights Foundation, Inc., is a national, not-for-profit organization committed to illuminating the presence and contributions of gay men and lesbians at the local neighborhood level and to building bridges of solidarity between the gay community and other communities. The PrideLights Foundation raises funds to sponsor year-round activities and events that portray the gay and lesbian community in a positive light. For more information, call (617) 455-1972.

THE COMING OUT PARTY

Co-created by PFLAG and Pride Committee, Inc.
Join PFLAG and Pride for a cabaret evening. Enjoy the comedy, storytelling, and music as performers regale us with the wonder, hardships, laughter, joy, and freedom of coming out. Kevin Jennings of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Teachers Network will also discuss the "back to school campaign," which hopes to make it easier for our youth to come out in high school and be educated about gay, lesbian, and bisexual issues.

CELEBRATION '96 ON THE HATCH SHELL

Thurs., June 6, 7 p.m.
The Hatch Shell on the Esplanade
Join us at the Hatch Shell and let a starry night on the Charles River be your backdrop for an amazing evening. Special entertainment hosted by Miss "Lady" Bunny, and a screening of Wigstock.

Pride BOAT CRUISE

Fri., June 7, 8 p.m.
Boston Harbor next to Harbor Lights, 290 Northern Avenue, Boston
Come and energize yourself for the big day! Set sail on the midnight-blue harbor in a pink-lit boat under a starry sky! Sit back and enjoy the breeze, or dance your heart out on the top deck! DJ Joe D'Espinosa, hosted by Paul St. Clair. Tickets $25, available at Glad Day Bookstore, New Words Bookstore, We Think the World of You Bookstore, and at the wharf on the day of the cruise.

COMMITMENT CEREMONY and Hawaiian reception

Five couples selected to represent the New England area join together in a commitment ceremony, accompanied by Saturday's parade audience and other couples wishing to share their vows. Pride and the Massachusetts Freedom to Marry Coalition join forces to educate and inform our community about achieving this goal.

Copley Square to Lederman Field
March, enter a float, or be a cheering crowd member -- but join in and be one of 150,000-plus people to celebrate a part of our identity! Join us on the route and celebrate "Pride Without Borders," a testimonial to the heritage and diversity of our gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community.

THE FESTIVAL

Fun for the whole family as vendors share their wares, entertainers share their talents, and performers share their songs. Hang out, eat, and enjoy the afternoon -- then prepare to move on to one of the evening's many activities!
