Energy star
The EPA has launched a consumer-education campaign in Boston to promote a new
"EnergyStar" program, which purportedly could cut the average Hub household's
annual $1600 utility bill by 30 percent. Using a strategy similar to that of
GreenSeal, a company whose label identifies enviro-friendly products for
consumers, EnergyStar designates energy-efficient home and office appliances.
Not only would this save money, but it would cut back on the country's
pollution-generating production of electricity, 35 percent of which is consumed
by households.
