Amelia's Kitchen

If you're looking to put all five senses into high gear, head over to Amelia's, a small, come-as-you-are restaurant serving authentic Italian cuisine in West Somerville's Teele Square. Over 15 homemade pasta dishes are made to order, including gnocchi and lasagna. In a dish called fettuccine mamma, chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, and broccoli are sautéed with the noodles in a sauce of olive oil, white wine, and butter ($7.95). Arancinis, or rice balls, are stuffed with ground beef, mozzarella, and peas ($2.75 each). A thick slice of veggie pizza is topped with mozzarella, carrots, cheese, onions, zucchini, peppers, and broccoli ($1.50). Generously sized calzones with two fillings -- say, broccoli and onion -- are $6.50 (meat is $1 extra). Diners eating alone can read the news clips, chosen by Amelia's children, that cover the tables.

Amelia's Kitchen, located at 1137 Broadway, in Somerville, is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and on Sunday from 2 to 10 p.m. Call 776-2800.
