Cannoli from Modern Pastry

To find the best cannoli in the North End, follow natives to Modern Pastry (257 Hanover Street, in Boston). The recipe here dates back to 1931, when the Picariello family, from Puglia, Italy, set up shop. The creamy ricotta filling is made fresh three times daily and squeezed into the crispy shell upon ordering. There are chocolate and custard fillings, too, but the ricotta is what makes these cannoli tops. Call 523-3783.
