Health Is Wealth Munchees

Have your health and eat it, too

Noshing & Sipping by Valerie J. Cimino

We all love junk food, yet we all want to be healthy. Enter Health Is Wealth Munchees, miniature egg roll-type snacks that look and taste like junk food, but whose virtuous ingredient lists are almost too good to be true (think spinach, tofu, whole-wheat wrappers). They're pretty tasty on their own, but the fun comes from thinking up condiments to accompany them. The veggie Munchees are stuffed with cabbage, carrots, and celery -- good with a jazzed-up soy sauce or a spicy chili sauce. The spinach-tofu Munchees beg for Indian flavors -- a curry- or yogurt-based dip. The pizza-tofu Munchees, stuffed with tomatoes and tofu mozzarella, are perfect comfort food when dunked in hot marinara sauce. Each package has about 12 Munchees, just right for a light dinner or hearty snack. They're available at Bread & Circus for $2.39.
