Green Eggs & Ham

Egg McMuffins grow up

by Devra First

NOSHING & SIPPING
The Hi-Rise Bread Company has created the ultimate egg sandwich. Called Green Eggs & Ham, this savory package consists of one large fried egg, a slab of hand-cut bacon, steamed spinach, and just the right amount of red onion nestled between the halves of a freshly baked potato roll, then grilled. It's worth the $5.50: the roll is dense and moist, the bacon salty and sweet, and the flavors perfectly balanced. (On a good day, that is -- when the Hi-Rise gets busy, things can get a bit sloppy.) If you do not like Green Eggs & Ham, you do not like them Sam I am, the Hi-Rise also has several less Seussian egg-sandwich options. Available only on weekends.

The Hi-Rise Bread Company, located at 208 Concord Avenue, in Cambridge, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call (617) 876-8766.
