The Best Man

Malcolm D. Lee wrote and directed this comedy about an upwardly-mobile-buppie wedding where an advance copy of guest Harper's novel, a thinly veiled account of the loves and lives of his college buddies, falls into the wrong hands and the groom, reading between the lines, discovers a long-lost liaison between his best man and his bride-to-be. Lee has a winning cast (Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Sanaa Lathan), but his script burps when it needs to fizz.
