Lewis & Clark & George

A strong contender for the Ruben & Ed award for worst film in the festival is this moronic, offensive effort from Quentin Tarantino wanna-be Rod McCall. Two convicts -- the illiterate, maniacal Lewis (Salvator Xuereb, who actually looks a little like Tarantino), in for murder, and the dweebish Clark (dweebish Dan Gunther), in for computer fraud, come across a treasure map and set out in search of gold. En route they encounter George (Rose McGowan, who after this and The Doom Generation should speak to her agent), a mute beauty with a deadly stolen snake in her handbag. Clark falls for her, Lewis calls her "bitch" a lot, and the trio tool through the Southwest killing people and -- the fortunate George excepted -- mouthing excruciating dialogue. A film that never gets any cleverer than its witless title, Lewis & Clark & George explores new frontiers of bad taste and inanity. Screens at the Kendall Square Thursday at 5:15, 7:15, and 9:15 p.m. and Friday at 3:15 p.m.
