Palmetto

(Warner)

Ex-journalist and ex-con Woody Harrelson gets mixed up with femme fatale Elisabeth Shue's plot to kidnap her jailbait stepdaughter (Chloe Sévigny) for a cut of the ransom. Harrelson is famously good at stupid, but it's hard to sympathize with a hero who's dense as well as venal, especially when you keep anticipating the plot twists long before he does. And why is Shue the bad girl and Gina Gershon Woody's nice girlfriend when it should be the other way around?
