The Real Blonde
(Paramount)
Indie auteur Tom DiCillo (Living
in Oblivion, Box of Moonlight) follows two struggling New York
actors: Maxwell Caulfield as a smug, swinging stud with a hunky part on a
daytime soap, and Matthew Modine, a "serious" actor wrestling with a long-term
relationship. Neither the leads nor the plot provides much cohesion. What does
are DiCillo's slick, slack wit, some uproarious vignettes, and a supporting
cast that includes Catherine Keener, Daryl Hannah, Marlo Thomas, and Elizabeth
Berkley.
