High-powered Manhattan magazine editor Annie (Kristin Scott Thomas) and tony attorney Robert (Sam Neill) provide 13-year-old daughter Grace (Scarlett Johansson) with a thoroughbred named Pilgrim but not much in the way of love. When Grace and Pilgrim are injured in a accident, Annie takes them to the ranch of Tom Booker (Robert Redford), a man blessed with a mystic gift for communicating with horses and other beasts. You get nearly three hours of relentless montages of horses roaming the lusciously photographed Montana Big Country in this Redford-directed effort, but not one speck of manure.
