Two stars

At First Site

(MGM)

At First Site This sentimental adaptation of an Oliver Sacks story has Mira Sorvino as the blind Amy Benic, who takes in a tony health spa and falls under the hands of masseur Virgil Adamson (Val Kilmer). Virgil too is blind, but a new treatment enables him to see again. At First Sight does show some power in the scene when the bandages are taken off and Virgil experiences the visual world as a violation. "This can't be seeing!" he screams. The filmmakers agree, and the rest of Sight is best unseen.
