IN OTHER CITIES: The Montréal International Jazz Festival is North America’s premier jazzfest, presenting 500 concerts, more than half of them free, between June 30 and July 10, including performances by Bobby McFerrin, Al Jarreau, Roberta Flack, Dave Holland, the Blind Boys of Alabama, and Madeleine Peyroux. And the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the mecca for roots-music fanatics and all things Crescent City, is this year set for April 22 through May 1. The impossibly rich line-up hits about a dozen stages at the Fair Grounds Race Course with a mix of usual suspects and first-timers, international stars and regional favorites.
