Five Irish Ladies Singing
Plus Cinderella and Tuesdays with Morrie

CELEBRITY SERIES

Non-subscribers get their first crack at tickets to Celebrity Series’s 2005–2006 schedule this week, and that includes performances by Cecilia Bartoli October 23 at Symphony Hall, Wynton Marsalis October 30 at Sanders Theatre, Martha Graham Dance Company December 2-4 at the Shubert Theater, Mark Morris Dance Group January 20-22 at the Wang Theatre, columnist Frank Rich February 12 at John Hancock Hall, Kurt Masur and the London Philharmonic March 24 at Symphony Hall, and the Royal Ballet in Kenneth MacMillan’s Manon June 15-17 at the Wang Theatre. Tickets go on sale September 11 at 9 am | 617.482.6661 or http://www.celebrityseries.org/.

CINDERELLA

Boston Ballet kicks off its 42nd season with the US premiere of James Kudelka’s art-deco inspired production of Cinderella, which was unveiled last year for the National Ballet of Canada. It’s at the Wang Theatre, 270 Tremont St, Boston | October 13-23 | $18-$105 | 800.447.7400.

TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE

Harold Gould — a name that will raise fewer eyebrows than if you said, "the dude who played Lindsay Lohan’s dad in Freaky Friday" — is a last-minute replacement for Hal Linden in the title role of Tuesdays with Morrie. The play, a bowl of chicken soup for the journalistic soul, concerns a reporter’s relationship with a sage old professor dying of Lou Gehrig’s disease who expounds on the meaning of life. It runs October 18-30 at the Colonial Theatre, 106 Boylston St, Boston | $27.50-$72.50 | on sale Sunday at 10 am | 617.931.ARTS.

CELTIC WOMAN

Because it sounded better than "Five Irish Chicks Singing," okay? They can call it whatever they want as long as those eyes are smiling. With a set list that runs from "Ave Maria" to Enya, it sounds like a show that only a PBS pledge drive could love. And yet this thing sells out everywhere it goes, even propelling the Celtic Woman soundtrack album to a 19-week stay at #1 on the Billboard world-music charts. They’re back November 10 at the Opera House, 539 Washington St, Boston | $35-$65 | 617.931.ARTS.
