Strategically situated near several downtown sports clubs, KnowFat! is a gym-goer’s protein sanctuary, a restaurant and mini health-food store in one. Owner Jeremy Lappin describes the KnowFat! dining experience as "getting you in the mood to be good to your body." And it even has fries! Can you bench-press your roommate? Me neither. But I still liked the Choco Banana Prolatta ($4.99), a simple but potent blend of bananas, water, and chocolate protein powder. This monstrosity fills you up with 42 grams of protein in 20 ounces of thick, chocolaty goodness. For those who don’t count liquid as a meal, hit up the burger section. Choose among turkey, sirloin, veggie (all $5.49), or bison ($6.98). Turns out the nutritional quality of bison is far superior to that of any other red meat. It’s a tad dry, but at KnowFat!, it only has 2.5 grams of fat. And let’s hope KnowFat! opens for breakfast soon, because its egg-whites-and-cheese wrap ($4.99) could easily replace my Yoplait. Inside the wrap you’ll find egg whites, vegetarian chili, and fat-free cheddar cheese (and you’d never know it was fat-free if I hadn’t just told you). Another must-try is the chicken-meatball-wrap meal ($7.99), served with a drink and AirFries. This cheese-dripping miracle consists of ground-chicken meatballs mixed with melted low-fat mozzarella and organic marinara sauce. The fries are baked, but you’ll still be fighting for the last one. KnowFat! Lifestyle Grille, located at 530 Washington Street, in Boston, is open Monday through Friday, from 10 am to 10 pm, and on Saturday and Sunday, from 10 am to 9 pm. Call 617.451.0043.
