Upcoming local dining events

APRIL 11

If the Red Sox win their afternoon home opener versus the Yankees on April 11, people are bound to be in a celebratory mood. Even if they don’t win, there’ll be festivities at Redbones (55 Chester Street, Somerville), when the restaurant throws a baseball dinner starting at 7:05 p.m. Along with a special menu of ballpark fare, the event will also feature video of the 2004 World Series and baseball trivia and prizes. The cost is $35; call (617) 628-2200 for reservations and information.

Fight hunger by eating? Why not? On April 11, the eighth annual Operation Frontline Dinner takes place at Tremont 647 (647 Tremont Street, Boston), featuring the culinary talents of a team of chefs including Andy Husbands (Tremont 647), Ken Oringer (Clio), Marc Orfaly (Pigalle), and Tony Susi (Sage). A reception begins at 6 p.m., followed by a five-course dinner to benefit Share Our Strength’s Operation Frontline, a nutrition-education program that addresses the causes of hunger in the United States. The cost is $150, all-inclusive; call (617) 266-4600, ext. 13, for tickets.

APRIL 11 – 14

Beer and wine dinners are common these days, but when does grappa ever get its due? The week of April 11 through 14, at Amelia’s Trattoria (111 Harvard Street, Cambridge). That’s when the restaurant offers a five-course grappa tasting menu from chef Delio Susi Jr. The cost is $40, not including tax and gratuity; call (617) 868-7600 for reservations and information.

APRIL 13

It didn’t get the same attention as pinot noir in the film Sideways, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore the pleasures of zinfandel. On April 13, from 5 to 7 p.m., 33 Restaurant & Lounge (33 Stanhope Street, Boston) hosts a zinfandel evening as part of its "Hot Off the Vine" series. The event features information on and tastings of zinfandel, along with accompanying dishes from chef Anthony Dawodu. The cost is $20; call (617) 572-3311 for reservations and information.

APRIL 14

Beacon Hill boasts an ever-growing number of good restaurants; no wonder, then, that the Taste of Beacon Hill is celebrating its fifth anniversary on April 14, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The event, held at the Ritz-Carlton (15 Arlington Street, Boston), features cuisine from restaurants including Lala Rokh, the Federalist, Torch, Beacon Hill Bistro, 75 Chestnut, Scollay Square, the Hampshire House, and Grotto. The cost is $60 in advance and $80 at the door; call (617) 503-4140.
