AUGUST 30 & SEPTEMBER 1 Think California and Oregon have cornered the market on American wines? Not so. There’s plenty of good vino made right here on the East Coast. Don’t believe us? Head to Aujourd’hui (Four Seasons, 200 Boylston Street, Boston) on August 30, at 6 pm, and September 1, at 8 pm, when the restaurant presents the latest installment of its Epicurean Evenings series, this one titled "East Coast Wines." Try three wines made on the East Coast, along with three light courses, for $45. Call 617.351.2161 for reservations and information. AUGUST 31 Mushroom haters, look the other way. The rest of you, rejoice: on August 31, at 7 pm, L’Espalier (30 Gloucester Street, Boston) presents "An Evening of Mushrooms," a four-course dinner featuring special guest Ben Maleson, who’s been supplying wild fungi to the restaurant for more than a decade. Chef/owner Frank McClelland will join Maleson and sommelier Nick Tranquillo on a mushroom-foraging trip for the three days prior to the dinner, returning with a variety of mushrooms — not to mention insight — for the event. The cost is $55; call 617.262.3023 for reservations and information. OCTOBER If you’ve ever asked the question "Where’s the beef?", the search is over. Through October, the Oak Room (Fairmont Copley Plaza, 138 St. James Avenue, Boston) is offering a beef special — strip steak served with any of the restaurant’s signature sauces — from the renowned Wolfe’s Neck Farm in Freeport, Maine. Call 617.267.5300 for reservations and information.
