OCTOBER 11

Can you tell your Belon from your Bouzigues? If not, let Max Harvey, the seafood buyer for Jasper White’s Summer Shack, be your professor. On October 11, he’ll be teaching a little Raw Bar 101 and sharing his knowledge of buying, shucking, and preparing shellfish at Boston University’s Educate Your Palate Series (Room 117, 808 Comm Ave, Boston). After the lesson, sip on crisp white wines and delight in oysters, littlenecks, cherrystones, shrimp, and ceviche along with savory sauces. Class starts at 6 pm and costs $60; to register, call 617.353.9852.

Still dreaming about visiting wine country? Travel around the world in a single night during Chardonnez-moi at Aujourd’hui (Four Seasons, 200 Boylston Street, Boston) on October 11. The occasion celebrates the diversity of chardonnay, the most popular white wine, with three styles from different parts of the world, including Burgundy and Italy. The event starts at 6 pm and costs $45; call 617.351.2037 for reservations and information.
