Upcoming local dining event

NOVEMBER 12

Put your mother’s meatloaf recipe on hold and head to Radius (8 High Street, Boston) for their fall/winter cooking series. On November 12, chef Michael Schlow and owner Christopher Myers will teach intimate family-dinner recipes that are sure to boost attendance around your table. All classes run from 11 am to 2:30 pm and the cost is $125 per class, or $400 for four classes. Dress is casual. For information, call 617.426.1234.

Explore America’s heritage grape during a zinfandel tasting at the Fireplace (1634 Beacon Street, Brookline). On November 12, mingle at this fireside chat about the aromatic, fruity wine that has just enough spice to perfectly suit the season. Enjoy aficionados’ anecdotes and food tastings throughout the event, which runs from 3 to 4 pm. The cost is $25; call 617.975.1900 for reservations and information.

NOVEMBER 14 & 15

Learn how to become a beer guru while you sample special left-coast imports at the Northwest Fest at Redbones (55 Chester Street, Somerville) on November 14 and 15. (The Washington and Oregon beers will be on tap through December.) The fest offers prizes, trivia, dinner, and, of course, beer. The cost is $45; call 617.628.2200 for reservations and information.

NOVEMBER 16

If you’re looking for a night of fun and everything French, head to Beaujolais Nouveau at Brasserie Jo (Colonnade Hotel, 120 Huntington Avenue, Boston) on November 16. Delight in the French cabaret and enjoy French mimes, caricatures, and dancing while you savor wines and food from the Beaujolais region. The highlight of the evening happens at the stroke of midnight, when the celebrated vintage is unveiled and uncorked. The event runs from 9 pm to 12:30 am and the cost is $40; call 617.425.3240 for reservations and information.

If you’ve got a burning for the days of disco, check out the Trammps at Kowloon (948 Broadway, Saugus) on November 16. The band, which popularized the hit "Disco Inferno" in Saturday Night Fever, will perform live in celebration of the restaurant’s 55th anniversary. The evening will benefit the Joey Fund, and promises hits from the Trammps along with dancing and food. The event runs from 6 pm to midnight and tickets are $50; call 781.233.0077 for reservations and information.

Indulge your passion for chocolate by attending a chocolate tasting at Temper Chocolates (Hotel Commonwealth, 500 Comm Ave, Boston) on November 16.
