Boston behind-the-scene music dynamo LILLI DENNISON, who decamped for New Orleans last year, escaped Katrina unharmed but has lost everything. "I’m kind of screwed," the former Rat booker said by phone from her brother’s Seattle apartment. "I didn’t even have a long-sleeved shirt. I got to Seattle and I was like, shit, it’s cold here." Dennison will be one of the beneficiaries of a multi-club event tentatively scheduled for November 26 at the Middle East, T.T. the Bear’s Place, Great Scott, and the Abbey Lounge. Organized by KEVIN PATEY (of the Raging Teens and Jittery Jack Management), it will also benefit Habitat for Humanity and Tipitina’s Fund for New Orleans musicians. The line-up is still being finalized, but Patey clients EMERGENCY MUSIC and DARKBUSTER and his wife, MARY LOU LORD, are definites . . . Another Katrina benefit show has been confirmed for October 5 at T.T.’s with DIRTY TICKET (featuring the Pills’ CORIN ASHLEY and Pills/Shods guy DAVE AARONOFF) and BACK TO BLONDE, with the $10 cover benefitting Habitat for Humanity and Noah's Wish . . . Alt-country crooners FRANK SMITH released their third album, Think Farm, in late July. But they’ve already recorded two songs for their next release with Ethan Dessault at New Alliance. Frontman Aaron Sinclair describes one song as pretty and drony and the other as banjo-driven, thanks to new banjo player BRETT SAIIA, who could previously be seen playing solo around town and in a Converse commercial by local filmmaker Steve Maing . . . Tarantulas attack tonight (September 15) at Bill’s Bar, where the EXPLOSION’s LA-by-way-of-Boston label hosts a showcase featuring the LOT SIX and MITTENS, Vermont’s the STATIC AGE, and DARKER MY LOVE. The latter, a Los Angeles–based psychedelic punk quartet, have former Lyres and Tonsils guitarist Jared Everett alongside Tim Presley (ex–Nerve Agents) and Andy Granelli (ex–Distillers). Their new three-song EP, Summer Is Here, is out on Tarantulas October 11, and one track snuck onto the trailer for the recent Michael Winterbottom film 9 Songs . . . Punk upstarts LOST CITY ANGELS are lapping up accolades: the band were voted #8 in Alternative Press’s annual reader’s poll, and closer to home, LCA singer Ron Ragona has been nominated for a Best Local Male Vocalist BMA. They play Locobazooka at Fitchburg Airport this Saturday with DROPKICK MURPHYS and DARKBUSTER before pummeling America next month on DKM’s "Boston Invasion" tour.
