Notes

BY SARAH TOMLINSON

Mark your social calendars: beloved pop-rockers the SHEILA DIVINE are reuniting for a New Year’s Eve show at Bill’s Bar. Even as former frontman Aaron Perrino keeps plenty busy with his new project, Dear Leader, he says he always suspected the Sheilas would reconvene at some point. And since that band were known for playing rousing home-town shows on New Year’s Eve, this seemed like the perfect occasion. "Expect to see the Sheila Divine Dinner Theatre performance of a lifetime. Dance numbers, several costume changes, and a laser light show. After midnight we will be performing ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ in its entirety." Anything else? "We may play some of our own songs as well." . . . The Sheila Divine soiree is part of a campaign by new BILL’S BAR general manager Michael Morotta, who’s also involved in the popular Britpop dance night "The Pill": "It will go a long way in helping to re-establish Bill’s Bar as Lansdowne’s ‘Dirty Rock Club.’ " On the club’s new calendar is the bi-weekly "Rock Candy," featuring DJ Greggy Most and live music by local bands, on Thursday nights and WFNX DJ PAUL DRISCOLL’s "Sorted" on Saturday nights. . . . Talk about big breaks: after winning an XM Satellite Radio contest, melodic hard rockers ERA FOR A MOMENT open Saturday for Bon Jovi’s sold-out TD Banknorth Garden show. Fronted by fiery-voiced vocalist Shelby Carcio, the Boston-based five-piece were briefly sidelined last year when guitarist Tim D’Agostino was called to serve in Iraq. But upon his return last spring, the band recorded their full-length debut, Realize, with producer Jim Foster (Nullset, Waltham), and the disc has been building Internet buzz all year. The band also headline downstairs at the Middle East on January 6. . . . The RECEIVING END OF SIRENS have been tapped for this year’s "Taste of Chaos" tour, joining Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman’s winter jaunt alongside Thrice, Deftones, and Thursday. It touches down at Tsongas Arena on March 7. . . . Boston rock stalwart and former Joe Perry Project singer MACH BELL’s new roadhouse-rock quartet MACH 5 — featuring Sugabomb guitarist Dee Stroy and former Real Kids drummer Jimmy Birmingham — have a debut CD, Meet Mach 5 (on Boston’s Lawless Records, home to Unnatural Axe), and they play December 10 at Dee Dee’s Lounge in Quincy.
