Loretta Lynn plays New Hampshire, plus the dance event of the summer and more

Note to all those White Stripes fans who just discovered Loretta Lynn: if you want to see the coal miner’s daughter this summer, you’re gonna have to be a rambling man. Aside from a pair of casino gigs in August, her only New England concert date this year is Friday at Meadowbrook Farm (603-293-4700) in Gilford, New Hampshire. And it isn’t with Jack White; it’s with Wynonna Judd. After a couple of albums spent trying to appeal to America’s R&B masses, dancehall legend Beenie Man got Back to Basics (Virgin), scoring an immense club hit with "Dude." He’s bringing on tour his guest on that song, Ms. Thang, along with T.O.K., whose "Gal You a Lead" popularized the "Wanted" riddim last year. They’re all at Lupo’s at the Strand (401-331-5876) in Providence on Wednesday and at the Roxy (617-931-2000) in Boston next Thursday, August 5. Meanwhile, the twin-sister duo Nina Sky are riding high on their hit "Move Ya Body," which was adapted from dancehall’s "Coolie Dance" riddim; they’re at Toad’s Place (203-562-5589) in New Haven on Friday. At the Wellfleet Beachcomber (508-349-6055) on Cape Cod this weekend: supersize tribute bands. Friday it’s Beefy DC, the world’s heaviest AC/DC cover band. Saturday the ’Comber hosts Lard Zeppelin, with former Dinosaur Jr. frontman J Mascis on drums; the Count Me Outs and the Rudds open. Tonight (July 29), it’s not a cover band but the actual Alice Cooper who’s playing Meadowbrook Farm; Boston’s own mod-garage buzz band Runner and the Thermodynamics open. Cooper is also at the Cape Cod Melody Tent (508-775-9100) in Hyannis on Friday. Even if you haven’t fallen head over heels for the Top-40-friendly electro-metal of Linkin Park — whose 2003 Meteora (Warner Bros.) is still going strong more than a year later, thanks to its fifth single, "Breaking the Habit" — there are still a few good reasons to show up for today’s "Projekt Revolution Tour." The nine-hour gig is practically a mini-Lollapalooza, and with Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang alum Ghostface, and underground legends M.O.P. on the bill, it may yet qualify as the biggest hip-hop tour of the summer. And that’s not even factoring in Korn, the Used, Less Than Jake, Funeral for a Friend, and No Warning, the Canadian hardcore band who’ve left Salem’s Bridge 9 label for Linkin Park’s new imprint. The tour hits the Tweeter Center (617-931-2000) in Mansfield tonight (July 29) and Meadows Music (203-265-1501) in Hartford on Saturday. If you miss Ferret screamo kids Funeral for a Friend on the tour, note that they’re also opening for Senses Fail and My Chemical Romance on Sunday at Toad’s Place; the latter two play the Call (401-751-2255) in Providence on Saturday. And Glassjaw’s Daryl Palumbo gets his band Head Automatica (a studio collaboration with Dan "The Automator" Nakamura) ready for the Curiosa tour with a warm-up gig at the Call on Friday.
