Early last week, US Senator Scott Brown claimed to have seen pictures of the dead Osama bin Laden, which he implied were shown to him in briefings. Hours later, his office put out word that the photos Brown had seen were not "authentic."
The very brief statement left a lot of open questions. Was he shown the photos at briefings? Were they the same obviously fake ones that we all saw floating around the Internet? Why did he think they were authentic? And why would a member of the Senate committees on the Armed Services and Homeland Security go spouting off publicly about what he thought he had seen in intelligence briefings?
Brown's office did not respond to phone calls from the Phoenix on the subject — so instead, we resorted to the wisdom of the masses. David S.
