MAINE STATE PIER IDEAS
In response to "Saving A Sinking Waterfront," August 31):
1. Renovate the pier for heavy bus traffic to arrive at shipside as is done in every port in the Mediterranean.
2. Nothing on the surface except for loading and unloading.
3. If anything must go on the pier, go to Montreal and see what they have done with their waterfront:
a. IMAX theater for public relations, the tourists, et al.
b. Large venue for rock and other music concerts.
c. Places to shop for souvenirs.
d. Places to hear with a harbor and fishing-activities view.
e. Places to sit in the sun and under cover when raining.
f. Area for the immigrant children to fish.
