Michael Brennan raised $41,075, much of it from progressive politicos and academics. Backers include former House speaker Glenn Cummings ($350), councilor John Anton and his wife ($700), working waterfront champs Barbara Vestal and Ned Chester ($350 each), secular activist Sean Faircloth ($200), consumer lobbyist Doug Clopp ($100), USM economist Charlie Colgan ($100), and former Democratic Party chair Ben Dudley ($300).

Jed Rathband raised $27,544 directly, but has benefited from at least $11,000 in spending from a dedicated PAC, the Portland Committee for Economic Development. Many of his prominent direct donors — Fred Forsley, Justin Alfond, Dan Soley among them — gave more to Strimling. Exceptions include David DeLorme of DeLorme Publishing ($350) and Tom Federle ($100). The pro-Rathband PAC failed to disclose its contributors on Friday, but did so on Monday after the Portland Phoenix called to inquire about their failure to comply with election statute. (PAC president Daniel Pepice said PAC officials had thought they did not need to disclose until January.) Rathband's secret admirers turn out to be Roxanne Quimby ($7500), DeLorme ($2500 via his Elm Ventures Fund LLC) and his daughter Brook DeLorme ($2500), a clothing designer who shares retail space with Pepice. Lesser contributors: Sandra Clark Whiston ($500), Dragon Commercial Real Estate ($350), FJ Gallagher Associates ($100), and sound engineer "M. Barry" of Portland ($500). (Quimby held a fundraiser for Rathband at her Portland home and gave generously to the campaign for an elected mayor, which Rathband headed.)

Ralph Carmona raised $13,515, most of it from California. David Marshall raised $13,154 (including donations from prominent Maine Greens), Markos Miller had $7842, Jill Duson $4989, Christopher Vail $3701, Jodie Lapchick $3246, Hamza Haadoow $2837, Richard Dodge $1985, Charles Bragdon $1135, John Eder $755, and Peter Bryant $0.
