DOING YOUR PART
Democracy at work

Two state elections are coming up this fall, and the Boston Election Department is looking for help at the polls. The department is currently recruiting election officers for the state primary, held on Tuesday, September 14, and the state election, held on Tuesday, November 2, from 6 to about 9 p.m.

Election-officer duties include maintaining order and integrity at polling stations, recording voters’ complaints, checking voters off the voting list, and directing voters to voting booths. Training will be provided, and stipends awarded. Election officers must be Boston residents and registered voters. Anyone interested in applying should call Lynne Onishuk at (617) 635-4491.
