• Rockabilly vet SEAN MENCHER and his RHYTHM KINGS have started a new second-Saturday series at the Dogfish Bar & Grille on Free Street (the old Taverna). Starts at 8 pm, even. How civilized.
• Hopefully you know about the Portland showcase during CMJ that HILLY TOWN and ETERNAL OTTER have organized, with 10 Portland bands playing the TRASH BAR, but there's more news on that front: HOLY BOYS DANGER CLUB hit the front page of CMJ.COM as the "Sonicbids Spotlight" band, and they'll also being playing at the CRASH MANSION on October 22, along with an "unofficial" CMJ show at the UC LOUNGE on October 20. • ROY DAVIS is moving to Austria. Or has already moved. To Bregenz. How long will he be there? "Sort of indefinitely."
• One other thing to note with the STATE THEATRE open house this weekend: It will mark the debut of the PORTLAND RADIO PROJECT, an Internet radio station that will feature local Portland music. If you want to get them some music, contact ABEL ADAME down at ACADIA RECORDING CO.
