From Woozy to Way Out

On THURSDAY (the 4th), it looks like the 4th Annual Liberty Fest on Smith Hill is a go (details and band set times were finally announced earlier this week), with another kickass lineup (on three stages!), including Big Rush, Volcano Kings, Bad Motherfucker, Atlantic Thrills, Mighty Good Boys, and tons more. And yes, it’s free to enter! See you there. A double-dose of 75orLess Records acts are out and about this weekend, with Northern Lands (pick up He Took a Dive ASAP) opening for Rustic Overtones on FRIDAY (the 5th) at the Ocean Mist (401.782.3740); and on SATURDAY (the 6th), Hank Sinatra Jr. hits the 95 Empire Black Box for his straight-to-public-access hit series Something Else, with a live set from Hoaxerz Must Die. This guy is out of his mind, so you know this will be pretty damn entertaining. Also on Saturday, Lead By Example and Far Off Place jam out at the Knickerbocker Café ($5, 401.315.5070), and local trio Way Out will rock it at the Met (all-ages, 401.729.1005). On SUNDAY (the 7th), start your afternoon back at the Ocean Mist for The Senders (voted Best Cover Band in our 2012 Best poll), then get to Dusk that evening for a face-melting four-pack of meal greats lead by Georgia’s Jucifer along with locals Woozy, Sangus Legionaris, and Sire (featuring members of Howl). Tickets are $10 at the door, dial 401.714.0444. TUESDAY (the 9th) Conquer the midweek blahs with Local 121’s DJ Series, with Way O’Malley and Handsome Pete spinning on WEDNESDAY (the 10th) and a “Strictly Vinyl” set courtesy of Mikey Potatoes on THURSDAY (the 11th); 21+ and no cover charge, call 401.274.2121 for details.
