Awards

On July 20, 2000, The Boston Phoenix Web site took home the LISA (Local Internet Service Award) for Best Local Arts and Entertainment Service. We were one of four finalists for this national award and competition was fierce. We beat out AOL/Digital City, washingtonpost.com and SignOn San Diego. The judges said our site had the best overall presentation, depth and that it "just plain works."

Special congrats to our Web team -- Clif Garboden, Camille Dodero, Nick Zaino and Minda Berbeco -- for winning this award. And special thanks to Jeffrey Gantz, Jon Garelick, Sean Richardson, Carly Carioli, Matt Ashare, Peter Keough, Carolyn Clay, and the rest of the Boston Phoenix Arts staff and freelancers for creating the award-winning content - without which even the best Web presentation (which we apparently have) wouldn't have gotten any attention.

Other Awards

Recognized as Best Newspaper Web Site
(2001, Alternative Weekly Class) by the New England Press Association.

Recognized as Boston's Best Newspaper Web Site
(1998, Alternative Weekly Class) by the New England Press Association.

Rated Boston's best city guide in The Web Magazine's November 1997 issue, outranking Boston.Com, Boston.Sidewalk, and Boston Online.
