A MEDIA LOG DEBATE! Tim
Graham, of Brent Bozell's Media
Research Center, writes to
Media Log:
Dan: Like all your liberal
friends, you're so defensive of Michael you won't even acknowledge
facts that make him any shade less heroic. [Note: I assume
Graham is referring to this.]
The common-law wife and the two kids, for starters. You can try
and build a case that Michael's not Dr. Evil. But it's sloppy to
argue that because some question Michael or Judge Greer, we're all
building up hatred. I could just as well turn that around and say
every liberal's critique of George Bush's war in Iraq, using terms
like "Bush lied, people died," calls on all the crazies to
assassinate him.
Media Log writes back to
Graham:
That doesn't make Terri
Schiavo any less brain-dead for the past 15 years. It doesn't
change the fact that most of her brain was gone, and had been
replaced with spinal fluid. It doesn't change Jay Wolfson's
opinion. It doesn't change the fact that people like Hammesfahr
and Weller were coming out and reporting things that simply could
not be true. You are focusing on the wrong issues.
Please point out where I have
ever called for Bush's assassination, or said anything even
remotely supportive of anyone who did. For that matter, please
point out one single liberal - as opposed to some left-wing
nutjob - who's ever called for Bush's assassination.
"But it's sloppy to argue
that because some question Michael or Judge Greer, we're all
building up hatred." Come on, Tim, you know that's not what I
said. I said that the almost-certain lies of people like
Hammesfahr and Weller, aided and abetted by the likes of Hannity
and Scarborough, were whipping people into a frenzy, since they
were painting a picture of a sentient woman who could be
rehabilitated. Hell, if there was one scintilla of evidence that
they were credible, I'd probably have been outside the hospice
demonstrating with the disability-rights activists. If you're
going to criticize me, please try to be accurate.

Thw brain-dead standard: Bozell, Buckley, E.Howard Hunt. The tragedy is of course that this minute story has dominated national headlines while our soldiers continue to be killed and maimed while NOT defending this country.
you are all left wing nazis.feels great!!
Since we're in Boston, note that Jay Severin, Howie Carr and Scott Allen Miller all fell in the "don't demonize the husband, let her die" column.
What's with the "common-law wife" BS the wing-nuts keep repeating? You can't aquire common-law marriage status with someone while you're still legally married to someone else, and Michael & Terri Schiavo remained married until her death. Fruitcakes...
J. DeMello
As the Irish would say, Pa-tet-tic. But I think bringing up the accusation that some out there [?]may want to harm the President, is just another ugly way of diverting attention from this wing-nut driven fiasco.
Which is more feeble:
A) The Schindlers absolute lust for money from Terri's condition and death;
B) Wingnuts rallying for camera and ink time;
C) The pathetic media supplying said time as the world turns and US failure accelerates?
When they were all still speaking, the Schiavos encourage Michael to date, and he brought his girlfriends home to meet them. Were they hoping Michael would meet someone else, and leave Terri to them?
And Michael is 41. I don't know how old the girlfriend is, but there is a point where if you want a family, you can't wait. Her willingness to start a family while Michael fought for the rights of his first wife makes her, to me, the most admirable person in this whole mess.
Dan, I'm a little surprised you're even engaging this guy. Hysterical, self-righteous moralizing. What's his point? I don't even want to know.
