In September, reality definitely sets in with a bang and a whimper, even for older types who aren’t going back to school. This week, the moon is waxing, so a feeling of optimism should pervade. This is the time of the month to begin projects, start relationships, reach out to strangers or new groups. It’s also a good week for evaluating education or training, and deciding whether you need to buff up your skills. We’re coming up on five years of global economic meltdown, which is really startling to think about, but the good news is that Mars is Leo is bringing out the urge to party — which is always encouraging.

New moon in Virgo, Rosh Hashanah. Taking the initiative may not be rewarding — but plotting and planning are worthy endeavors. Virgo, Taurus, Capricorn, and Libra: get into “fall cleaning mode,” (however you interpret that). Pisces, Gemini, Sagittarius, and Aries: if you’re fussy and dissatisfied, you’re in tune with the moon (sad but true). Scorpio, Cancer, Aquarius, and Leo: take your time — there’s no reason to rush.

Waxing moon in Virgo, moon void-of-course 6:10 am until 3:12 pm when it moves into Libra. A VOC moon means plans will be adjusted (or canceled). However, Libra moons are excellent for meetings, so focus on both sides of the story in the afternoon, particularly Libra, Gemini, Aquarius, and Scorpio. Capricorn, Aries, Cancer, and Taurus: that rush to judgment is a misjudgment on your part. Pisces, Sagittarius, Virgo, and Leo: try not to overspend.

Waxing moon in Libra. Ah, the moon in the sign of the scales. Bring on the beauty treatments — the extravagant clothing — the dainty delicacies served on a doily! Elegance is alluring for Libra, Gemini, Aquarius, and Scorpio. However, some folks (Capricorn, Aries, Cancer, and Taurus) may be the “bull in the china shop” when it comes to emotional discussions. Pisces, Sagittarius, Virgo, and Leo: stick with old friends who are tried and true.

It’s been a weekend of focus on partnership issues, and you may find that you understand your own needs better than you did a few days ago (most likely for Libra, Scorpio, Gemini, Cancer, Aquarius, and Pisces). Capricorn, Taurus, and Virgo: make do with less. Aries, Sagittarius, and Leo: just because things are low-key doesn’t mean you can’t liven up the joint by cranking your stereo. Just sayin’ . . .
