• As BRENDA, the excellent Portland/NYC rock trio who released the gorgeous Silver Tower in 2010, preps a proper follow-up, a two-song sampler of new work is available to download. There's a ton of growth here, most obviously shaped by Peet Chamberlain's shift from bass to organ, and we imagine their new stuff should be equally rich. That comes out in the fall. For now, guess the '80s pop gem embedded in the tangled anthem "Fix Yr Eyes" and fool around with the proggy, elusive "Ghost Coach." Visit brendabrenda.bandcamp.com.

• A rad and truly disorienting listen comes to us from PSYCHEDELIC BRONY, the mysterious artist who issued the recklessly colorful full-length Clipitty Clop (sic) back in June. The record's 15 tracks last over an hour, and to say it's a way-wild ride is a massive understatement. It serves up an unabashed, (largely) instrumental concoction of styles — faunky jazz rhythms, organ-driven headscratchers, '70s prog, and baseless dubstep — often introduced in abrupt shifts, like a Naked City/Amon Tobin collaboration fortified with LSD. To be honest, we know nothing about these folks — Psychedelic Brony's identity is buried beneath some tackily adolescent packaging and an aesthetic fetish for My Little Pony. But we definitely want to believe, as they suggest, that it's a 16-year-old from Maine, and we're so tired of the information age that we're just gonna run with it. All you need to know is that Clipitty Clop is an adventurous, revelrous record truly concerned with divorcing listeners from their primary cogitations. Download it for fifty cents at psychedelicbrony.bandcamp.com.

SPOSE releases a new compilation of B-sides and "fan favorites" called The Yard Sale this week (peep that cheeky cover), in step with a forthcoming tour of the East Coast between the holidays. Download only, The Yard Sale is being offered in exchange for a $5 pledge to the rapper's new Kickstarter campaign, from which proceeds will benefit two high-profile projects slated for free release next year: The Peter Sparker Mixtape, a proper album, and Dankonia, a more rap-minded collection of rhymes set to Outkast instrumentals. We get that Spose is everywhere lately, but he's a hardworking and relentlessly creative dude who's really dedicated to doing it himself, and therefore, we submit, totally worth your support. All sorts of swag is on offer; see his Kickstarter page before the campaign ends November 23.
