Notes on Erin Harpe and Banned in Boston
By JIM SULLIVAN | March 24, 2008
 Erin Harpe |
ERIN HARPE has stepped out of her role as lead singer of the electro-funk band LOVEWHIP to record Delta Blues Duets. The singer/guitarist recorded it with her father, Annapolis-based blues guitarist Neil Harpe, at Boston’s Mix One Studio. Erin and friends play a free gig at the Alchemist Lounge April 3. (Lovewhip’s next one, Love Electric, is due later this year.) . . . Avalon has long been home to the Urban Improv benefit “BANNED IN BOSTON,†but with the Lansdowne Street club shuttered, the local celeb-and-pol-studded satirical revue is crossing the Charles to MIT’s Kresge Auditorium on April 26. . . . JOE AND ED KANE (of the Estate) are opening Shrine, a restaurant/nightclub in the MGM Grand at Foxwoods on May 17. Investors include Red Sox co-owner TOM WERNER and KISS 108’s MATT SIEGEL. And the Kanes’ WaterWorks club in Quincy reopens — and goes more upscale — May 27 as the Marina Bay Beach Club.
