Dodge City Steaks
Haute cuisine without leaving the house
BY CHRIS WRIGHT
Previous Columns

Of all the foods one might order in a restaurant, I’ve never understood why people choose steak. After all, unlike, say, mille-feuille of artichoke and goose liver, anyone can prepare a steak. Even me. Also, there are times you just don’t want to go out — such as when the Red Sox are enjoying a rare post-season run. The Dodge City Steak Company, based in Dodge City, Kansas, will deliver, to your door, steaks "renowned for their superior taste and unsurpassed tenderness." What could go wrong? Well, your grill could stop working. Still, even cooked in a frying pan, Dodge City’s 10-ounce strip steaks ($66 for four steaks, with shipping), smothered with the company’s Original Rub ($4.95), are delightful in both taste and texture. One might even go so far as to say I’ve created a gourmet meal — a first, I think. Too bad the Sox game is so hard to swallow.

Dodge City offers a wide selection of steaks, rubs, and sauces. Call (620) 227-9657, or visit www.dodgecitysteaks.com
